Jones Adds a Layer of Style to Victory Against Tink

Having fallen to a narrow defeat on the opening day of the season, TrueLayer bounced back to beat newcomers Tink 11-8 in a very evenly contested game.

Ben Morris caught the Tink defence napping in the opening stage of the game, as he snuck in behind to slot home his second of the season, continuing his rich vein of form in front of goal. Tink captain Reece Shannon-Sinclair had seen enough and channelled his inner Claudio Ranieri, tink-ering with the formation early doors with immediate effect.

Some wonderful footwork from Fraser Bissett saw him bearing down on the TrueLayer goal, and he calmy dispatched his effort into the top corner to level the tie. Leading by example, Shannon-Sinclair added a second for Tink as they took the lead for the first time in the game.

After cancelling each other out several times in tan epic first half, the teams went into half time level at 6-6. Both sets of fans would have been happy with their team’s performance in the first half, some intricate football on display, and most importantly for the neutral, plenty of goals.

Roles reversed at the beginning of the second half, as it was Tink’s turn to take an early lead, with Bissett doubling his tally for the day. Had it not been for a spectacular double save from TrueLayer keeper Adi Ramesh, then Tink could have run away with the game early on in the second half.

However, TrueLayer showed the same resilience we saw in matchday one, turning it up a gear with last week’s man of the match Luke Jones pulling the strings in the middle of the park once again. With match well and truly in the balance, a deflected effort from Jones trickled into the corner in slow motion, putting TrueLayer into a slender 9-8 lead.

Tink threw bodies forward in hope of an equaliser, but were sucker punched by Morris who added his second of the evening. The final scores read 11-8 to TrueLayer, in a disappointing end to the evening for Tink, who will have felt they had done enough to earn at least a point. An encouraging start for Tink who move onto another tough game against an unbeaten Hammock side in week 3.

Final Score: Tink 8 vs 11 TrueLayer

Man of the Match: Luke Jones (TrueLayer)
